Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine uses radioactive substances for diagnosis and treatment. Radioactive atoms are bound to biomolecules and introduced into the body—intravenously, as a capsule, or by inhalation. These radiotracers accumulate in organs or tissues and emit radiation, which is detected by a gamma camera and processed into precise images. This allows, for example, tumors throughout the body to be precisely localized.

Unapproved drugs

It is possible that the product you are requesting is not approved for marketing in Switzerland. In this case, we require written confirmation from a physician with a federally recognized specialty certification in nuclear medicine and a cantonal license to practice, stating that they will comply with Art. 49, paras. 1 through 6 of the Medicinal Products Authorization Ordinance (AMBV; SR 812.212.1).

If approved alternative products are available on the market, the user is required to assess their suitability for the specific application and, if they are deemed equivalent, to use the approved product.
